The Party
I’d only found out about it the day before, but I had a party to go to. I wasn’t directly invited, but Khristian brought me along as a guest of his. I wasn’t exactly sure why, as I’m not particularly good at wing-man duties. It turns out I was merely a regular guest, thus saving me from both flying fighter jets, and making unnecessary Top Gun references. It started well, though not so well that we walked in the complete opposite direction to the meeting point, ending up somewhere randomly in Kensington. Still, we needn’t have worried, help was on its way in the form of Liam, one of Khristians friends, whom he introduced me to rather formally. We eventually got to the pub, where there were about ten to fifteen people, all of varying states of pre-emptive drunkenness. Once we’d stayed in the pub for a few minutes, it was time to move to the actual party, situated a little way away from the pub, and back in the direction we came. When we got there, both mine and Khris’s eyes lit up. In the kitchen, food and drink, in the middle room, an Xbox 360, and in the front room, a PS3. It was like our very own incarnation of heaven. So both Khris and I headed to the PS3 and played Fifa 09 on it, until we were bullied off it by some children. It turns out that it was good that we did, as the first thing the two clearly under-aged girls did was put Guitar Hero on.
We had to wait a while for the two kids to finish playing, a very long while. But while we were waiting, it became shockingly clear to me that one of the girls was clearly better at the game than me. This was proved when she put the Dragonforce song on that has to be unlocked in the game. She proved much better at it than I am, and that was on the easy difficulty level. Still, I could console myself with the fact that I could play some songs on a higher level, and she couldn’t. Victories were small ones in this competitive arena. I then remembered the kitchen, and it’s incredible bounty. There were many foods there, sausage rolls, chicken tears, strange wavy chicken things, meat, rice and cheese squares were amongst the sexy contents. I did suggest a manly and not even slightly gay culinary technique by wrapping random food items in a small satchel of meat. It was dismissed by many, but one tried it a minute later and instantly delighted in it’s comboliciousness! Once I’d had my fill of meat products, I grabbed a beer and headed back to the PS3 room, where I was being called into action for some game with guns and shooting and death and all that pretty fun stuff. It turns out I was needed to be the guy who always gets killed.
Several hours of intense gaming ensued, all of which involved me getting repeatedly killed. I eventually tired of my mortality being continually questioned, and headed outside for some fresh air. Khristian was already there, and so was a random cat. Khris proceeded to pick him up, which the cat himself wasn’t best pleased about, but let him do it anyway. It didn’t bite, nor did it scratch, but it sure looked pissed off. I decided to back away a safe distance from Khris and the cat, for my own safety. This proved seemingly pointless, as the poor cat still refused to react to anything. Contemplating poking it with a stick, I thought to myself of the positives and negatives, until my mind got tired and both Khris and the cat had wandered off. I needed another beer. So inside I went, clambering over people who were sitting in the front garden, and wandered through to the kitchen, where there were a lot of people. Thankfully, the fridge was easily accessible, so I could get a beer fairly easily. It was fast approaching the early hours, and there were still a few die hard gamers hammering away at games in various rooms, but it was time for me and Khris to leave. The party was great, in my opinion, and I’d met lots of people, both male and female. Not entirely surprising given the amount of genders we have.
