A Heart To Hold

Alone, despondent and forlorn,
Left abandoned, alone and stranded,
Searching for a light in the depth of the dark,
A positive message from a familiar hand,
A friendly face, keeping a soothing voice,
Beckoning me to her, to table to join,
A rescue from a beautiful source.

Camera, lights, action, playing the fool,
Bouncing rhetoric and conversation,
Making each other laugh and smile,
A tonic from the woes of the previous,
A connection, not realised, but there,
Silently buzzing, drawing us closer.

Exit stage left, to a kiss, a reassuring arm,
Spinning the journey home, floating,
As darkness loomed, cares were elsewhere,
To the one who saved me, dragged me up,
Offered her hand, her smile, and her heart,
Barely remembering journey, mind occupied.

Message upon message, small talk connects,
A world in our minds, created for our fun,
A changing mood and a question to lead,
Feeling strange, recalling the overlooked,
The realisation flashes, the feeling strengthens,
My heart beats faster with each passing thought.
