Part 4 - Beginning The Pursuit
Commander Uchett turned on his heels, and beckoned to his men to drag Cassie away. They exited, and all Orion could do was watch. Suddenly, however, a plan struck him. He would let the commander take her to his ship, and subsequently to his own planet and compound, then find his way there, destroy it, and save his beloved. Luckily, thinking didn't involve movement, and so this didn't alert the guards who had him at gunpoint. The door swished closed behind the commander, Cassie and the guards. Another minute passed, and Orion was still in a stand-off with the remaining guards. Suddenly one of these guards' radios begun to crackle.
"Execute.. Leave no survivors"
This very briefly distracted the guards watching Orion. Unfortunately for them, within that split second, Orion had stripped one guard of his weapon, broken his neck, and shot another right in the head. A flurry of bullets then followed from both sides, until all that were left standing were Orion and one guard who appeared to be struggling to reload his gun, the ammo cartridge lodged into it the wrong way around. Orion walked towards him, a burning rage in his eyes, raised the gun he'd acquired to the guards head, and calmly pulled the trigger. He then took the radio from the guards belt, and transmitted a message to the guard captain that issued the order.
"There are no survivors. You'd better hope I don't find you..."
"Find me..? Who is this? Report soldier!"
"The Reaper has come for you..."
Orion dropped the radio and crushed it with a hard stomp of his foot. He walked towards the door, which swished open as he approached. Entering, he followed the corridor for a good few hundred metres, then stopped as he saw a small vessel fly away from the Volans, then suddenly disappear. It seemed that Uchett's ship had activated it's cloaking system. There was then a violent shaking which knocked Orion to the floor. He assumed that the ship had passed very closely to the Volans, shaking it with turbulence as it went. Suddenly there was calm.
He knew there were still guards aboard. Suddenly Orion's attention was focused on exacting what little revenge he could against them, while draining them of whatever information they held of Uchett's home world and the compound in which he resided. He got to his feet, and headed back towards the docking bay, where guards were still entering the ships they'd arrived in. Caring no more for the safety of himself or that of the Volans, he grabbed two guns from the bodies of guards previously slain, and ran to the docking bay. All but one of the ships had now departed. Jumping from the upper platform, he landed on a guard, taking him out instantly. Others were alerted to this, and soon the ship had emptied, and Orion was surrounded by ten guards, and the guard captain he'd warned earlier.
"Your souls are mine!!"
Orion screamed, directly looking at the captain, then spinning, he'd already shot six of the guards before anyone else could react, still reeling at the sound Orion had made. The deceased fell to the floor, distracting the others, and during this, Orion had approached and stabbed the remaining four, leaving just the captain.
"I told you I'd come for you..."
Walking towards the captain, who was pointing a gun whilst shaking in fear, Orion fixed eyes with those of the man, who was now stepping backwards fearfully.
"Shoot me, I dare you. Do you even have it in you to pull the trigger?"
Orion got closer and closer, and soon the gun was directly pointed at his head. If Star Orion had a plan, it had better work, or he would soon be one for the Reaper himself. Luckily, the guard captain was a quivering wreck, and dropped the gun as they both approached a wall, the captain's back slamming against it, now unarmed.
"S-spare me! Please! I have a wife and children!"
Orion stopped for a second.
"How old are your children?"
"One and Three.. J-just babies!"
Thinking to himself, Orion remembered a conversation he'd had with Cassie.
"Baby, when this is over, I want to marry you! I don't care about anything else, I wanna be the father to your kids!"
"Marry me? Really? O-okay.. Wow.. I.. I love you Star..!"
Then he snapped back, looking again at the captain who had fallen to his knees, trembling.
"I won't kill you. But I will ask you a few things. Where is Uchett's planet, his compound, and how is the security there?"
Orion got all of the answers he desired.
"What's your name, captain?"
"S-Sorensen.. Sir.."
"Well Sorensen, I want you to report back to Uchett, and tell him none of his men survived. And then I want you to quit. You have two young children. Surely you don't want to risk them growing up without a father?"
"N-no sir!"
"Okay. Can you pilot that ship?"
"Yessir!"
"Good, then follow my every instruction and you'll be safely home."
"Yessir.."
Offering his hand, Orion pulled Sorensen to his feet. They walked towards the ship, and climbed the ladder to board it.
